my names brad first off...my buddy has a 99 f150 5.4L v8 4x4 with a blown engine and my grandfather has a 2001 f150 5.4Lv8 4x4 off road with a fried tranny..could the 99 tranny go in the 2001 or no and i was wondering how much i could sell my grandfathers truck for with no tranny..the truck has 138,000 miles on it and no rust on the body...
thanks
to swap the trannies, you have to make sure they are the same tranny... the computers in these trucks are transmission specific from what i have read. so if one has a 4r70w and the other is a 4r100 then you cant do it. but if they are the same transmission, it should just be plug and play. (please correct me if i am wrong, this is what i have heard)
now for selling the truck minus the tranny.... it depends where you are located at, and how you want to do it. if you want to just sell it as is, my guess would be a couple grand. . . now if you want to part it out, you would probably make more money, but it would be more of a hassle.
2001 f150 5.4 changed plugs, boots, all coils and injectors, now has rough start when warm like engine is being choked if i depress throttle a little starts but puffs smoke
