Can any one give directions on installing an electronic brake controller on a 2004 4x4 expedition. I surrently only have the four flat in the rear.
Thanks

I have a 05 and I bought the brake controller similar to what's in the video above. I never mounted it because I only towed my race car 10 times a year so I just plugged it in and laid it in the center console. Then just unplugged it when done.
You can't do it with a 4 pin, it doesn't have a brake wire. The pin that gets added for a 5 pin connector is the brake wire. Is the tow package you have aftermarket?
The window sticker if you have it, a dealer can look it up by VIN to tell you, or you can look for the transmission cooler by the radiator (it looks like a smaller radiator). Both my 03 and 04 have factory tow and they both have 4 pin and 7 pin connections at the hitch. I have read somewhere (maybe here?) that they de-contented the tow package and had done away with the 7 pin connection, although the wiring for it remained in the harness at the hitch. Not sure when that happened, or if it did, just what I recall. Could have been a mid year '04 switch which is why mine has the 7 pin and yours doesn't.
Blue is the brake wire. Check out the etrailer site, maybe they have an adapter so you don't have to cut off the 4 pin connector and resplice all the wires. They have a lot of info on their site.
I do have the tow package. It is my understanding that I do not need the Big yellow and and the big black wires hooked up. They are just for back up lights and supply full 12 volts to trailer for charging external batteries on trailers or for sprayers. Only have blue wire back there.
Yellow is normally the left turn signals and purple is the back up lights. Black (or red) is the battery charger. Back to your original question - you have a 4 pin plus blue which is what you need for a 5 pin connection to electric brakes. How you turn your 4 pin with a wire into a 5 pin for your trailer is up to you, I would cut the 4 pin off and splice in a true 5 pin. The electric brake controller will come with directions, but since you have the factory tow package it will be plug and play.
