Alternator Replacement
I need to replace the alternator on my 88 F-150 I6 and was wondering if there was a preferred brand that anyone would recommend? I also need to know the amperage that I will need. This truck is completely stock and will remain that way. Thanks in advance.

Alternator Replacement
I went with a brandy new Bosch from NAPA when mine burned up on me. That last one was a generic POS from a local company. The NAPA one is kinda expensive (A local NAPA is a customer of mine so I got the employee discount but it was still over $100) but i'm hoping it will last a long time.
As for amperage, just look at your current one. There will be a tag on it that tells you what it is.

It's is defn. a good idea that you replace your alternator, i had mine catch on fire on me two weeks ago, what a nightmare. Had to install the new one in a CVS parking lot at night....not to fun.

I had to take a half day off of work and do it in the parking lot (happened when leaving for lunch one day) in the rain! FUN FUN!
