I purchased a ScanGauge ll and one of the factory settings is coolant temp. (WT)
It never moves off of 40 degrees F. Is there a code I can enter in the X gauge?
Thanks in advance, Bill
mine did the same thing, but -40 if I read it right.
I found a post that listed this code to use.
once water temp reaches 150 degrees it reads right, something about being in 2 or 3 stages - but it's the best i've found so far. stays within 5 degrees of oil once things are warmed up.

Thanks Boston, Grady had bumped me with the site for the code yesterday. I see the same as you. When I start cold it will go up to 256 degrees then settle out around 130. Like you it will remain within a few degrees of the EOT.

good deal. I really enjoy the SGII. was displaying mpg avg and instant on one side, oil and tranny on the other. now that I have oil working swapped that in place of tranny for regular driving
Like Clay said, if your truck is an auto, you can't read coolant temps. Reason being is there is no PCM input for coolant temps on truck equipped with automatic transmissions. Since the scan gauge reads from the PCM, it's going to give erroneous numbers. Oil temps are what you want to track.
So the temp that it shows for the coolant after it warms up is not truly the water temp?
Correct.
There is a coolant temp sensor, but it's wired directly to the dash gauge and not to the PCM. Since the Scangauge connects to the OBDII port and pulls data from the PCM, it has no input for coolant temps.
