Question engine timming marks

Have a 351m in a 78 f150 went to look for the - btc - marks on the piece above harm bal. it has no #s for deg of timming is this standard for this year and if so would i time it to the point of the metal that overlaps the harm bal. wonder since my other Fords have all had #s.
Having hard time with figuring the 14 degs since no marks, need input as to why lack of marks and were to line up so its on time . is it possible to time it with vacuum guage to intake man.?

perplexed and needing help !!!

The marks are on the balancer. Find tdc then you will know where to clean up the balancer.

on my 78 with the same motor there are multiple marks and #'s on the balancer, there are no numbers on the pointer, You might need to take a little sandpaper and clean up the balancer some more

Again, as Mark said the marks are not on the metal plate, they are on the balancer. There will be numbers (degrees of crankshaft rotation relative to TDC, before and after) stamped next to the marks. If the balancer is dirty, the marks are very hard to see. The metal plate is just the pointer, the tip of which points to the mark on the balancer. There are no marks on the pointer.
