wow what a drag!

sorry that happened to you

I cant believe how often I see people driving erratically talking or texting! And I don't think I'm all that picky. If they could see themselves--they wouldn't do it.

They always look like drunk drivers to me. They speed up/slow down/stop too soon or late/cant' pull out efficiently ....

And really-i have a cell phone-I'm not against them-don't use it for weeks at a time-but why do people need to be talking all the time on the phone?

I thought that ended some time after junior high school?

Tom

In Washington state, it has been a secondary infraction for the past 2 years to talk on the phone without a hands free mode or to text. Meaning the cops couldn't pull you over for doing these things directly, but if you were doing anything else wrong they could stop and cite you for, they could add that to the list of things. On June 10 of this year, it has become a primary infraction, and the media has been full of warnings that cops will show no mercy and will be directly looking for talkers and texters and handing out $124 fines.

Yeah. Now the only people talking on the cell phone will be the police (who are JUST AS DANGEROUS while driving) and everyone else that just blows off the law.......But it's still ok to shave, put on lipstick, eat, read novels, newspapers, maps, etc.....

Just another stupid law trying to legislate behavior.

I have kicked in afew car doors on the bike to get drivers attention off their phone and on driving.
You should stop doing that. You are going to get seriously injured or killed!

Yep, $2750 fine for using a cell phone while driving a commercial vehicle. Yes, that is a four digit number!

What chaps my hiney about this whole cell phone thing is how people are complete and total slaves to the danged things. It doesn't matter what the person is doing or who they are talking to, when their little phones start chirping and buzzing they focus all of their attention on it. You can't have a one on one conversation with anyone anymore...if their phone rings you are automatically relegated to 2nd priority.
Everyone I know knows that I'm most likely NOT going to answer the phone, even if I'm not on the road. I get very few phone calls because of this practice and I like it that way. They all know they are more likely to get a quicker response from me through Email and that I NEVER delete emails.
