I know I still see them as well. My wife actually told me yesterday they have handed out 18,000 tickets since it started. I know it could have been way more than that.

Oh I don't know Sam?!? The people are willing to pay for and are starting to demand better police and fire protection.

But the stupid politicians continue to take that money and put it into studies on the Sea Otter, or want to pay for health care to all the illegal aliens here first (dispite the fact that voters here strongly passed a State Constitutional Amendment to stop such a thing - that was overturned by ONE judge).

When I lived in La Mesa, the City there replaced all their street signs with new fancy colored ones to decorate up the city. Then they laid off 5 cops and closed a fire station. Seems the Sign company had heavily supported the Mayor and 3 City Councilmen in their campagne races. And this is how everything in this country is run anymore - at the expense of safety, security, jobs, and even lives.

The politicions always cut the services people need (while paying off their supportive special interests) in order to justify tax and rate increases when the people say "Hey knock it off."

I recently read an article offering several job interview tips. One tip - turn off the cell phone during job interviews. If you forget to turn it off, don't answer it, and and apologize for the interruption.

'Excuse me Mr. Interviewer while I waste your time. This call is important!'

Really shouldn't have to tell people stuff like this.

GA just passed a texting while driving law.

UGH! round-abouts and "master planned communities".....AAAGH!!!!

Ok, ok...I'm officially calling this the weekend, its time to head to the lake and indulge in a couple of days of sun, fun, and frosty beverages and forget about all the whacky crap going on in the city.

I hope everyone has a great weekend

What chaps my hiney about this whole cell phone thing is how people are complete and total slaves to the danged things. It doesn't matter what the person is doing or who they are talking to, when their little phones start chirping and buzzing they focus all of their attention on it. You can't have a one on one conversation with anyone anymore...if their phone rings you are automatically relegated to 2nd priority.
My thoughts also. When i am talking to someone and they answer their cell phone, I walk away. If I am having lunch with someone and they answer their phone, I stop talking. If they ask what were we talking about, I say I don't remember.

If I am driving I don't answer the phone. If it's safe to pull over, I will, or I just let it go to voicemail.

You want to stay alive on a motorcyle?
1st, don't EVER daydream (complacency kills)
2nd, watch everybody, front, left, right, behind, 1/2 mile ahead, etc...ALL the time.
3rd, always have an escape route
4th, don't ride like the kids on the crotch rockets

Man, am I ever preachy today....lol

Man do I agree with this statement 100%! I've been riding a bike for over 30 years now and I realize my reflexes have slowed down some over the years but I have had several close calls in the last 4 or 5 years due to teens and women (not picking on the women, just happens to be the ones that nearly hit me) talking or texting on their phones. Most didn't even have the courtesy to even look sorry for what they did. But one woman threw her phone in the seat and mouthed "I'm so sorry". Maybe she learned her lesson. I don't know........

When I get stuck behind some turd who is 15 mph under the limit because he's/she's so preoccupied with talking, I make a point of getting my bike alongside when I can and dropping down a gear, with my pipes as close to their window as possible. Maybe whoever they're talking to will get the message that the turd is driving and hang up. They damn sure aren't going to hear anything.

In Washington state, it has been a secondary infraction for the past 2 years to talk on the phone without a hands free mode or to text. Meaning the cops couldn't pull you over for doing these things directly, but if you were doing anything else wrong they could stop and cite you for, they could add that to the list of things. On June 10 of this year, it has become a primary infraction, and the media has been full of warnings that cops will show no mercy and will be directly looking for talkers and texters and handing out $124 fines.

sucks about your trailer. I have kicked in afew car doors on the bike to get drivers attention off their phone and on driving. Due to work I am tied to my cell, but not while driving let alone riding I have seen people on bikes sitting at lights texting drives me nuts

Your my kind of dude man!! I hate phones period, and refuse to pack a cell phone!! It seems people are too preocupied to drive without a dumb phone and pay attention to bikers, but when they've got phone stuck in their ear or texting. They are NOT payin attention at all!! I've had several people just about run over me cause of them dumb things!! I do like the idea of kickin in doors, but a handful of roofing nails works well too

I don't own a cell phone, and never will. And if I did, there's nothing important enough for me to talk about until after I've reached my destination. I guess you could say I go at my own speed, and nobody can bother me about it.
