I took my truck in and got the rocker panels Rhino lined today. When I picked my truck up there was no smoke on start up and everything was well. Then I stopped by Tractor supply about 3 miles down the road from the shop, went in took care of buisiness and when I came out and started my truck I noticed smoke on start up. Not white or blue smoke but kind of grayish, not near as dark as when I take off at WOT. As I idled out of the parking lot the smoke continued and cleared up after I got on the main road. Stopped at a light and looked again to confirm and there was no smoke. The truck ran fine even while smoking. Is this the beginning signs of the injectors going? Any other ideas?
My truck has 74,500 miles on it. Last oil shange was 72,000. Last fuel filter change was at 67,000 miles. I run a shot of Clean Diesel white bottle every fill up. Had 2 injectors replaced at 54,000. Any other information needed should be in my siggy. Thanks in advance.
You can always see if your throwing a code like "cylinder contribution/balance". That might make me learn somewhat to injectors. Those codes won't throw a CEL.
Sorry it took so long to get on here and respond. Truck ran great today no smoke. I'm not throwing any codes and unfortunately I don't have AE to do a cylinder contribution test. I have two Optima Red Tops that are about 2 months old so I don't think it's them. I will check my FICM voltage and alternator tomorrow.
Make want to see if there is any chaffing going on. I do think there have been some issues with regard to that as well, but I could be confusing that with something else.
