this may be dumb but we do landscaping, and after hauling 4 yards of mulch in the bed/trailer, i feel like a better set up for hauling is better, can u do any add-a-leaf on these 1/2 ton f150's?
you can add a leaf or add air bag or air shock to increase load capacity. The max capacity is determined by the axle rating and the motor size.. have you got a 4.2 with small rear end, or a 5.4 V8 with the 9.75 axle ?/ makes a difference.
8.8's are not too tolerant to overloading, the bearings used in those rear ends are very small and they will fail if loaded too far beyond what they are rated to. It would be wise to install a 9.75 rear as part of your payload upgrade. Expect slightly lower performance and gas mileage though because the larger differential will provide more frictional losses in your driveline.
