guess this part

I made a smart a$$ comment a few months ago about how much I love this game,,, as long as it's not a part from my truck. Well, karma...
While my turbo was out I decided to do the 50 cent mod and torque injector and rockers. While working on the passenger side, last rocker, this little C-clip stuck to the oil residue on my finger. No idea where it came from.
Any ideas what it might be? It's on the tape measure between the 6 and 7. Looks rusty in the pic but it's a matte black color.

Looks to be the right size for the wastegate lever clip. OEM one is not always really an E-clip, but more like a "C".

A wastegate clip would make sense but didn't he find this under the valve cover?

Looks more like a valve spring retainer clip to me. He was under the valve covers , and I bet he didnt remove the turbo AFTER taking off the valve cover.

Look here http://www.gohypermax.com/ProductDis...2-229035e9dcbd

Since I don't know I'm gonna ask, but aren't the valve spring locks/retainers cone shaped clips like on every other motor? I've never seen a valve spring retained with a clip.

It could have been laying on the VC and fell onto the head when it was removed. Most valve keepers look like this and are larger: http://www.4hd.net/images/products_f...tt95jq7fdo.jpg

Thanks for the replies!!! It did stick to my finger while working on the head with the valve cover removed. Since it found me I have no way of knowing where it really was. I did take the turbo out first. While waiting for parts to rebuild I did the 50 cent mod, torqued stuff on the head, gutted the EBPV on the pedestal and removed the flapper/shaft from the exhaust housing. All parts and pieces are accounted for.

And a huge thanks to all that provide direction here. I took my laptop to the barn/shop with the turbo removal guide open, the thread for gutting the EBPV and the instructions to rebuild the turbo.
I don't think you could buy a better service manual
