vin code

I have a 2002 4.0 sohc explorer needs a motor.my exp is a vin code K the motor I purchased is a vin code E will this be an issue ??

I'm going to guess you will have a problem, your vehicle is a flex fuel motor, and the one you are putting in is a non flex fuel motor

the origional motor has timing chain issues and has swallowed a valve

What I'm saying is your probably gonna need to find a vin code K motor as that is a flex fuel motor, which your explorer is set up as a flex fuel vehicle, the vin code E motor you have purchased is a non flex fuel motor, and i'm not sure how well the computer will like that

Not sure but I wouldn't think the long block would be any different. All exterior items "should" swap over from the old to the new.

pstoker how did you make out with your engine swap? I also put an swapped for a gas motor in my flex chassis
