289 heads

First off I don't know a lot about small block parts, but I have the chance to buy some old 289 heads for my new project. The heads have screw in studs and guideplates already installed. The only casting numbers I saw on them were 289 and 7k24. My questions are, are these heads anything special, and what might they be worth?
thanks Red

289 heads

They'll have an advantage only in that the smaller chambers will make it easier to get a stout compression ratio and most 289 heads typically don't have the Thermactor smog bump in the exhaust port. Flow-wise, they are much the same as any other 289/302/5.0L head, unless they have been ported. They'll also need either hardened seats or stainless valves (or both) installed to be able to use unleaded fuel.
