If you go to the ford website they let you build a vehicle. Thats a fun way to pass the time. But they won't let you have the totally custom cool truck. What I want to is for you guys to tell me what the coolest truck would be with the available options. The only rule is that you can't pick one that is already offered by the company, ie. Harley pickup. And it has to composed of parts and packages offered by Ford.
Mine is the 4x4 super cab 8' box with the KR skid plate pack. 7,700lb GVW, towing package A, rancho springs, 5.4L Harley S/C intercooled engine, 18" wheels, 3.08 Limited slip rear, KR interior, Harley Exterior, thats it so far
The Lightning engine is available from SVT a seperate company from FOMOCO. The Harley has the same engine and SC that the lightning has so they should be prety close.
Really. well There is a 2003 Lightning at a dealership here that is 43 g's cdn. As for the Harley I duno. I think the harley is about the same. Not a big difference.
Hmmm......I like things that are original, lots of fun. Probably something like a new reg cab, short box, slammed with a huge 460 BB twin turbo. but that's only dreams. I'm waiting for the 2004 Lightning though that's gonna be a slick truck!
After I finish my Cougar I am going to build an E-150 Lightening. It will look OEM all the way. I will lower it a touch and install factory Lightening wheels, seats, billet grill, Mustang aluminum gas door, Lightening badging, dual exhaust, and a few more touches. I am going to use a cargo for my project. Haven't decided on color but leaning towards red. This will be one awesome looking van and will be sure to turn heads.
Ok here we go this in my opion is the coolest truck i would be able to make with all the ford truck parts since the f-series came out 55 years ago.
Start with a 98 F-150 flareside,
next, drop in a 351 Cleveland
ram air intake manifold and a with
double 4 barrel carb. Next put on 18"x9"
00' svt mustang chrome rims, wraped with
the new 18" Falken low pro, tires
put in a old 50's style floor bed with the
glossy cherry wood panels , shave the door
handles, and the F 150 logos. Use the lightning
ground effects kit. And the new mustang
"shaker" hood. Take the paintjob off the new
04" Harley truck with the very high two/tone
silver/black job. Next use the SVT leather bucket
seats.Along with the dash kit from the lightning.
Next paint the trim pieces on the interior the
same color of the truck. Put the new 04" f 150
tailgate on, with the blue oval in the middle of
tailgate.
If I went with a crazy monster engine it would be the 534, based on the 460 but factory stroked. Twin turbos would be good it would top out at well over 1000 HP.
Nice dreams.. but when I think of my dream Ford, there's always the same truck that rolls into my mind. A 1996 (apologies to the 97' and up crowd, I dig the older body) F-250 crew cab shortbed, with the biggest powerplant I can afford, whether it be a performance 460 or (God willing) up to 572 cubes. To put power to the axles, only the beefiest manual transmission and manually shifted transfer case would do. I'm not sure on the specifics of those yet. Since I'm still dreaming, there'd be Dana 60's at each end stuffed with 4.11 or lower gears, with limited slips. The truely "dream"part would have to be the suspension. I could go into extreme detail, but take the basic drop cradle 4 link design from a monster truck (with some obvious frame reinforcments) and scale it down to street size, with a Combs external resevoir shock on each corner, mounted with custom high towers for maximum travel and articulation. Kiss the payload and towing capacity goodbye though.
There are other goodies it'd have to include as well, like hydrolic steering, Warn bumpers and winches, off-road lighting, etc.
