You need to post this in the 6.0 Diesel forum. Right now it is in the 2009+ F150 forum.

How about telling us a little more about it like what year, how many miles, any modifications etc...

Here's a good thread to read to help you start tracking down the problem: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...condition.html

Thanks for replying! The truck is completely stock. I have 236,000 miles on it. I already replaced the #5 injector and the FICM about 6 months ago. When i try to start it it turns over and acts like it wants to catch and go but nothing. When i first turn the key i can hear the fuel pump run and i also hear a humming sound come from the back of the motor close to the fire wall. The sound seems normal but it stays on for about 60 seconds before turning off. I also had black smoke creeping out of the tailpipe.

what model year?
what oil do you use?
what oil filters do you use?
what modifications?

the sound at the firewall is most likely the vacuum pump.

Were the fuel filters changed before you drove it home at all?

A friend of mine changed his fuel filters once and had turned the key over before filling the top one back up with fuel and had gotten air in the line...maybe that's what it is. All I can think of would be air in the line.

That brings back old memories. Used to clean up after a guy that diagnosed EVERYTHING as an air bubble.(Even 5 bent valves on a straight 6 cummins)

I'm not diagnosing anything. Just trying to help out and going off the only piece of experience I have.

Welcome to the 6.0 world. If you will go to the 6.0 tech folder at the beginning of this forum there is a thread on how to diagnose a no start condition. You need to get a code scanner and see if it's storing any codes. There are several things it could be and I don't suspect fuel at this point. Two things come to mind: Fuel injector control module and High Pressure Oil system. It's almost impossible to know without some kind of GOOD code scanner. It's possible you'll also get a cam position sensor code but the cam position sensor on a 6.0 is basicaly bulletproof, unlike the 7.3, and a code can be set from a "stall" event. See if you can get it scanned and report back. There are LOTS of good knowledgeable folks here that can help you.

No start...CMP Sensor?

Hey,

I had a similar issue last week...truck went through Key On sequence BUT mine only tried to fire once then abruptly shut down before starting.

I went through the no start trouble shoot list.

DTC P2614 Camshaft Position Signal Output Circuit/Open

Sensor replaced for $52 + 2 hours labour/diagnostic and another item I asked the dealer to check out.

+the tow to the shop

No offense but your solution means next to nothing without the info that Bismic asked for. These engines peripheral equipment varied from one year to another and are very important to know.
