I drove my truck home friday no problem parked it. Went back to start it 45 min later engine turns over and it acts like it wants to start sometimes but nothing. I checked the fuel pump it is pumping fuel to the filter located on top of the engine but i dont know where to go from here..
Thanks for replying! The truck is completely stock. I have 236,000 miles on it. I already replaced the #5 injector and the FICM about 6 months ago. When i try to start it it turns over and acts like it wants to catch and go but nothing. When i first turn the key i can hear the fuel pump run and i also hear a humming sound come from the back of the motor close to the fire wall. The sound seems normal but it stays on for about 60 seconds before turning off. I also had black smoke creeping out of the tailpipe.

what model year?
what oil do you use?
what oil filters do you use?
what modifications?
the sound at the firewall is most likely the vacuum pump.

Were the fuel filters changed before you drove it home at all?
A friend of mine changed his fuel filters once and had turned the key over before filling the top one back up with fuel and had gotten air in the line...maybe that's what it is. All I can think of would be air in the line.

Welcome to the 6.0 world. If you will go to the 6.0 tech folder at the beginning of this forum there is a thread on how to diagnose a no start condition. You need to get a code scanner and see if it's storing any codes. There are several things it could be and I don't suspect fuel at this point. Two things come to mind: Fuel injector control module and High Pressure Oil system. It's almost impossible to know without some kind of GOOD code scanner. It's possible you'll also get a cam position sensor code but the cam position sensor on a 6.0 is basicaly bulletproof, unlike the 7.3, and a code can be set from a "stall" event. See if you can get it scanned and report back. There are LOTS of good knowledgeable folks here that can help you.
No offense but your solution means next to nothing without the info that Bismic asked for. These engines peripheral equipment varied from one year to another and are very important to know.
