I posted this over in the engine section too, but not getting a response:
I installed a new double roller timing chain from Summit in my 351m today, but the crank pulley doesn't line up with the other pulleys correctly. It appears that the harmonic balancer is about 1/4" out from where it used to sit. Is the double roller timing chain gear thicker? Am I missing something else, or is it just not installed correctly?
hmmmm I just did mine I just gave it a few light taps with a block of wood to get it into place. But then again this is all new to me (first timing change)
I'd look at the old timing gear to see if it is made to a different thickness.
Which sadly means that you you have to pull the cover back off to check it out.
