Off Topic -60 Starliner

I am looking at a 1960 Starliner . Does anyone know of a forum for 1960 Ford cars . One of my first cars was a 60 Fairlane with the Interceptor engine . Thanks .

1. Buy it!
2. Was there a convertible and what model was it?
3. 1960 Edsel’s weren’t, they where thinly disguised Fords.
4. Buy it!

Starliners are very cool cars. Did you have some specific questions, or just want to hang out with like minded folks? One of my other hang outs is here...Classic Mustang Forum + Classified Ads :: Index
It may say Mustang forum, but it has always been for 60-73 Fords of all kinds. You can even post your questions in the main forum. Just tell them "Painter Wayne" sent you. ;-)

If not too high buy it.
I had 2 here 3 years ago. One was very build able and complete car, minor rust, all glass good and fair interior and I sold it for $5500. The other one had some rust in floors and 1/4's sold it for $1900. It also was complete. Just to give you an idea of their value.
These big ford fastbacks are very popular and the starliners were the first fastback type fords and can be $12000 and up cars in pretty nice shape. They also drive very nice.
As far as a forum the two below would be good places to start.

You can check out the Ford Barn's 1953+ forum:

Late V8 (1954+) - The Ford Barn

I've never gone there, I do hang out at the early V-8 forum and it's pretty active.

Starliners: 1960/61 Ford Galaxie 2 door hardtops that have thin rear 'fastback' style roof pillars with three anodized gold stars spaced about two inches apart.

1960's were refered to as the Galaxie Special Starliner, while 1961's were refered to as the Galaxie Starliner.

While the roof is of a fastback style, Ford never refered to Starliners as fastbacks. Fastbacks were introduced mid-model year 1963 (Ford called 'em 1963 1/2's).

The 1960 Edsel 2 dr HT used the same roof, but no Edsel was a Starliner.

btw: Besides the dictatorial Ford Galaxie Club of America, there's another club: SoCal Galaxies...which I've been a member of since 2004. Over the past 40 years, I've owned 33 1960/64 Galaxies HT's, 3 1960 Edsels.

I love these cars. 53-56 are my passion in this hobby but the 60-61's are killers. Saw George Poteet's in person and these two at a show in Pigeon Forge.

Just to clarify...Starliners are 2 door hardtops. Convertibles are Sunliners.

Yes, but no Sunliner is a Starliner.

Production:

1960 Starliner V8: 68,851.

1960 Sunliner V8: 44,762.
-------------------------
1961 Starliner V8: 29,669.

1961 Sunliner V8: 44,614.
-------------------------
1960 Edsel Ranger Deluxe V8 & I-6 2 door HT: 52.

1960 Edsel Ranger Standard V8 & I-6 2 door HT: 243.

1960 Edsel Ranger Convertible: 76.

Only 2,843 1960 Edsels of all body styles were assembled. The Edsel was cancelled November 16, 1959.

btw: Individual production figures for 1960/61 Starliner/Sunliners with the 223 I-6 are not available.

Only the total number of 1960/1961 Galaxie I-6 production figures are available.

As nice as the wheels on the black car look, the ones on the white car just look totally WRONG. In my humble opinion, of course. Those are mighty rare cars around these parts.

Check out this one on eBay!
