V10 in a Galaxie

So I`m contemplating a V10 swap into my 61 Starliner with a turbo or two.
Am I crazy???
Ideas welcome.

Lots of surgery, especially the trans tunnel to fit any trans that will bolt up to the V10. I know this is a good engine, but the V10 in a Gal does nothing for me. FE or 385 based big motor, or even a 10,000 RPM small block....

there was an article a couple months ago where a guy stuffed a 6.0 diesel in one took him a couple of years if I remember right. Had to do a lot of fabrication. Think it may have been diesel power but check diesel world also

Only 29,669 '61 Starliners were assembled. How many remain today?

It sounds like a brilliant idea, and that's what has made America great. Putting a truck/motorhome engine in a valuable classic car will turn the SEMA crowd on there ear, they will be playing catch up for years. Think of the donor base, it's huge. Bodie Stroud will be kicking himself for putting a Ford GT engine in his Starliner.

good point .
while you may find some idiot to buy it a few years from now for 1/2 of the money you invest in it, a restored 61 starliner will bring a lot more money from the bidding war when it goes up for sale.

Ill give ya the thumbs up!

A V10 is a good motor. Any mod motor is a good motor. I like the idea but from what Iv read, you cant put too much boost to these ol V10s. The rods cant handle the extra stress

Well there should be plenty of after market stuff for the 5.4 and I`d assume that the guts of both motor should interchange?
I`d build the v10 to suit the turbos

^^^ He makes a good point! The 5.4 and 6.8 are identical, ones just got 2 more cylinders. If your going to build it, might as well build it right and fully forge the bottom end. Finding a forged crank will be problematic though...

After its forged, you can run nearly as much boost as youd ever need.

The V10s been out since 99. The aftermarkets not that big for em (sadly). You can build up a good performer but I don't believe their is enough support to make an all out race motor.

Of course if you've got the cash and know enough people, anything is possible!

Being that the V10 is not produced anymore, I doubt there will be any improvement in available aftermarket products. If the aftermarket has jumped onboard by now after 14 years of production I see no reason to start now. V10's just never had that big a market and it's getting even less as time goes on.
