Hope someone can help me out. We have an '01 Sable with the 3.0 DOHC engine. Today when my son was on his way home from school, the CEL came on and the A/C quit working. The A/C problem sounds like a clutch, as it's making noises, not squealing, but more of of a rumble or a board being dragged across stones.
Took the car to O'reilly's and they pulled the code P1633 which is KAM low volt. The best I can figure out is KAM stands for Keep Alive Memory. What I was able to find out on a Taurus site is that it could be the PCM is dirty. We found the connector in the engine bay, and cleaned it. It wasn't dirty though. Does anyone have any other ideas on how to troubleshoot this problem. I'm sort of thinking both problems are related since the happened at the same time. The people at O'reilly's also checked the battery and alternator. Both check good. We tried to reset the CEL at the store, but couldn't.
