check engine light came on today at 49k miles, truck is running perfect. Pulled codes P1335 and P0404. No smoke, runs fine when cold, no start-up issues.
What's the deal here?
Looks like yet another classic case of an EGR valve either coked up with carbon, stuck open, not opening/closing as commanded by the PCM and/or any or all of the above.
Now if I can just figure out the P1334 code. That would be a help! And the intermittent P4088.
P1334=EGR Throttle Position Sensor Minimum/Maximum Stop Performance
P0488=Exhaust Gas Recirculation Throttle Control Circuit "A" Range/Performance
I had read a thread from years ago that a new "flash" had taken care of these. Will be going to Ford next week to find out which "Flash" this 04 has. Then deciding to re-flash or not. Hope that will help.

Late build '04 model years use an EGR throttle plate. I believe the OP is referring to an '06 model year which doesn't have one. But yes, there is a reflash that SHOULD repair those two codes for your '04. You may end up having to replace the throttle plate itself too though.
Left truck at dealer Monday morning and to my surprise they gave me a loaner. Picked up truck this morning and this is what they did:
Egr system test failed, r/r egr valve. Remove turbo, disassemble and clean vanes and unison ring, applied antiseize. Add cetane booster.
Total cost $107.01
Thanks for your help guys.
They should have charged you NOTHING for those items. They are emissions items and are covered with NO DEDUCTIBLE. You should ask for your money back. AND IIRC they are not supposed to disassemble and clean a turbo they are supposed to REPLACE it.
