He talked me out of the SCJ heads. He said he would port the heads quite a bit and they would be better than an iron head in regards to you can run more compression on the aluminum without detonation. I was prepaired to pay the $6850 for the motor with the SCJ heads and didnt opt for this PC motor to save money. I took his suggestions figuring he knows more than me. He also suggested I not go bigger than 521 because the longer strokes wont last as long because of piston rock.
Should I tell him I dont want the PC heads? I gave him no reason to believe money was an issue he just said those heads get a bad rap and I dont need to spend more money on the other heads for what Im doing. At 1st he was going to just use iron heads (D3's I assume) but then said If I went aluminum he could make the compression higher.
personally I wouldnt use the PC heads regardless of cost or intended use...ESPECIALLY if he is selling you complete heads instead of bare heads with his own valve and spring package. The castings suck and Ive read each combustion chamber needs work to even be the same CC. SCJs are a more rpm friendly choice but for my money they are a much better bang for the buck than PCs with huge amounts of room to grow later.
Im still going to vote for TFS Streets and not because thats what I bought. There are too many torque builds out there using them with great results. Later on you can send them to Charlie for a little rubbing.
