I have a 54 F250, have installed Sun aftermarket gauges, but I want to use the original fuel gauge.I have a 12 to 6volt reducer but have no schemeatic for the gauge.it has 2 terminals but no markings.I thought 6 volts to one side and the other terminal to the gauge may work.there is no marking,so I wonder if polarity is important. Thanks F250 RED
Mount your voltage reducer on either power post. Make sure you ground the reducer by installing the pigtail terminal fork under the gauge mounting screw.
Now run 12 volt power to the stud on top of the voltage reducer. Run a wire from the sender and connect it to the other stud on the back of the gauge. Should work fine.
It doesn't matter which side you run power into or out of. But if you are supersticious, hook the power up on the stud that is on the "F" side of the gauge - that's OEM.
The gauge must have it's matching gas tank sender installed to work properly.
Thanks,Jules for the quick reply, the gauge and sender are original so all I added was the voltage reducer, this truck is new to me,came from a barn in N.D. has not run in at least 10-12 years so I don/t know if it works or not.will soon find out. F250 RED
