54 fuel gauge
my truck has been changed over to 12 volt . i put a new fuel sending unit in the tank from dennis carpenter . and the gauge in the instrument panel checks out good. when i wire the fuel gauge up , the hand in the gauge goes past the full mark. i need to know how to reduce the power to 6 volt
If you have a 6V sending unit matched to a 6V gauge, you might be able to use a voltage reducer inline and make it work. but not sure. I'll be using an aftermarket fuel gauge and a 12V sender mounted in the original tank. If 54 and 56 gauges are the same, you might be able to use a 56 sending unit and gauge in your 54 since 56 was 12V.
