Question wiring issue

I was putting a 12 to 6 volt reducer from napa to my gas and temp gauges on my 1954 ford truck. I was told to run a wire from ignition switch to the terminal on reducer that's marked batt and then run a wire from the other terminal of reducer to the gas gauge then loop a wire to the temp gauge. What terminal on the ignition switch do I run the wire off of they are marked ign, acc, batt, with a long post in the center. Also what terminal on ignition switch do I need to run my wipers and heater motor to wasn't sure if the long terminal in the middle was hot or not. Thanks guys.
