I have '69 f250, that has a small rust hole above the windshield?
My plan was to hire a window guy to remove it so that my bodywork guy can make the repair. My question is ... What are the chances that the windshield will be broken during removal. I'm just trying to fix my budget. And also, Is the molding different if i have the chrome piece that surrounds my windshield. Thanks Al
if the window guy knows what he is doing and it does not have any cracks in it. then he can remove it with out any issues, and you will be able too reuse it. there is different window seals one has the grove for your chrome and one does not. you just need to make sure it has the grove in it.
Al, Dennis Carpenter makes the best rubber. You order it with or without the slot for the molding.
Spend the money on new rubber and not on removal. Take a drywall knife on the inside and cut the rubber away, then just lift the glass out. You can do it yourself.
You will need to pay for an install. That is a 2 man job.

Hey John, I just read this and saw that you recommended rubber from Dennis Carpenter. I just purchased all new exterior and fuel system rubber from LMC Truck. Is the stuff I ordered going to be decent quality or did I just waste my money?
I had read good things about LMC and just placed a large order of items I needed (free shipping over $1000, lol) so I did a 1 stop shop with them. But now I worry about the quality of the rubber I might be getting based on your recommendation to go with Dennis Carpenter.
Rich, I ordered all my rubbers from LMC and they were of good quality. No problems there. I am not sure but Dennis Carpenter has purchased quit a few of the machines that used to make rubbers, other parts, etc... and I believe they sell to LMC etc... I have ordered some parts from LMC and they come in a Dennis Carpenter bag. You should be good to go.
Thanks! I feel a bit better now... I was not happy dropping that amount all at once yesterday, but figured it was all stuff I needed (as opposed to my WANT list.. lol) so I hit that "complete purchase" button.
I hear you....you don't even want to know how much $$$ I have dropped on my 72. Between LMC and Dennis Carpenter I have definitley done my part to keep those guys in the green. Best of luck and let us know how everything goes.
