Camshaft sensor

I replaced the camshaft positioning sensor on my 2000 f150 4.2L V6 this weekend (code reader at O'Rileys said it was malfunctioning). This seemed to fix the problem at first (engine would run but would miss a lot and die). The check engine light came back on this morning and does seem to be doing the same thing, but not nearly as bad. So, it is definitely better than it was before, but it still is not completely right. Could I have done something wrong when I installed it? There is just 2 small bolts, so I can't see how I could have. Any ideas? Thanks.

It might not be the sensor it might be bad spark plugs. This recently happened on a friend of mines Mustang. Pep Boy's installed a spark plug with a closed gap on it. He changed the sensor anyway.

I did replace the spark plugs and wires when this trouble started. I went back to O'Rileys today and the same code came up. I bought another sensor in hopes that the new one I installed was defective. Funny thing is it definitely is running better than it was before I installed it, so I think this might be it.
