Multiple channels are good so U can change to a channel with less chatter if need be .. if U only had one channel and went 4x4ing or whatever with a group U would here every group wheeling in the same area .. with more channels ur group could change to a different channel with less peeps and be able to communicate better!!
okay I understand but am confused about how people talk to eachother then, how does person A know what channel person B is on to be able to communicate with him

channels to remember
19-center of the band truckers tend to be on here, talking to trukers can be real handy to find out what is going on with traffic ect
9-emergensy use only cops often monitor this channel, sometimes you can get help

most of the use my radio gets is keying in on 19 to ask the trucks going the other way what's behind them (better than a traffic report)

alright guys this week I will be grabbing my cb finally, I will have to order offline which I do not prefer because everywhere local is a ripoff, I am going to have the uniden pc78 elite, since I plan to use it most while plowing I think it will be perfect, it lights up since ill be in the dark constantly and it has the weather channels, I'm planning on doing just a single antenna, I like the idea of the firestik antennas especially how you can adjust them for tuning without having to cut/clip them, I'm planning on either 5 or 4 foot single antenna, my question is now where and how do I go about mounting the antenna, I really want to put it on my driver mirror similar to IDIDieseljohn setup, I don't know how I would go about running the coax wire though I don't want to have to be careful opening the door everytime because I might tug or catch the wire on something so I'm guessing I'll just leave a bunch of slack but where should I run the wire? like out of the lip of the hood

Just drill a hole in your door like I did on the lower mirror post, and run the wire inside the door, and out that big rubber hose from the door to the cab.

Ground the radio to any suitable point on the firewall. I have mine grounded to the pedal bracket.

I get most of my stuff online really.

Lots of people are leary about sending their info online - truth is their info is already sent "over the net" more than they realize

For those with the overhead mounted radios, how's the visibility and how's the rear view mirror getting blocked in reference to the mic cable?

Cobra 29/peaked/tuned/boosted w/RFX75, want to keep it out of the heat and away from drink spillage by the dash
