It can be a challenge for a newcomer to find their way thru some courses. Due to the rain that started just about the time we finished setting up the cones, we were not able to use our chalkline machine to highlight the course "boundries", and as a result, there was a few people that did make a minor mistake by missing a "gate", thus netting a DNF. Even my co-driver nearly missed a gate on his first run. Had I not been in the car with him and pointed it out *before* it was too late, he would have flubbed it.
Like I said before, he won the base class due my own error. I went thru a section much better than I had previously, so I was carrying much more speed entering a tight ~180*. Then, I simply waited too late to brake, and went WAY too deep into the corner. Prolly lost 1-1.5 seconds right there, and put me .5 behind him. By the end of the second set of runs, I had cut more than a full second off his best time, and we were running the same exact setup. There wasn't even enough time between runs to look at tires, much less check the pressure. We were hard pressed to get the numbers changed and change drivers between runs.
Well after fixing my truck the last time I've never taken it farther then my yard.....until yesterday. So I figured it was time to see if my latest work fixed all the issues in my truck. I put on a couple hundred miles on it yesterday and the only issues that came up were a couple of dash lights burned out, the dome light cover came off and the drivers door speaker stopped working. My truck rides pretty rough so things get jostled around often. So I think I finally got this thing licked, fix a couple of wires and replace a couple of bulbs and I think it's ready for daily use again, yipee!
Well I got sick of working on my shed and needed a break so the last couple of days my brother and I spent entire days stripping two junkyards of all useful parts for the 80-86 ford trucks, and a pair of rust free inner fenders from a 78. Also stripped all 78-93 Dodge vans of their parts. Van full of parts cost about $300 and already made half that back by selling things I didn't need. I have way too many parts and I go out and get more, I think I have a problem
So now I have everything I need to replace all the little broken pieces in my truck, except the center woodgrain bezel. I keep trying to sell my truck, and keep making it better every week, but it seems my price must still be too high. Oh well I'll just keep making it better until it sells.
I wish I had more money I have way too many things to do and I need help, there is no way I'm getting everything done before winter. I wonder if I can find people that will work for car parts and food?
I also have another question. Who owns Sterling? is it Freightliner?
I dunno, but their larger trucks used to look like the ford L series for a while, and now they sell 1 ton size trucks that look like rebadged dodges.
I know ford sold their large truck operation to sterling, but cannot figure out why they sell dodge's with their name on them. Of course, if I wanted a diesel 1 ton, sterling would be one of my choices, since you can get the cummins without the ram hype.......
My friend found a Sterling dump truck pretty cheap, but we know nothing about them, I think it's a 97-98, the guy selling it dont' know nothing about it either and I don't know diesels. When he said he found a Sterling dump truck I was thinking why does he want a 30's truck? or was it the 20's?
Well you all have a wonderful holiday weekend. What better way to celebrate the birth of your country then blowing up a small piece of it?
I'm going to play paintball for two days and shoot bottle rockets at people, let's see if I can get more then one person lit of fire, not to be racist but it seems black people are more flammable then other people . A bunch of rednecks and two black people and one of them gets lit on fire, something seems fishy.
It's July 2nd, shouldn't we be on a July chat thread? Have a happy 4th.
I'm guessing no one bothered to make a new chat thread this time around.
Heck, this thread was actually started before June officially started, so I guess it's just natural for it run over a little too.......
