Cool wait to start problems... again!

I brushed ALL contacts on the glow plug relay except for the blue which I believe connects to wts light, no wires were chafed or catching all was good, cleaned absolutely everything then this happens,
contacts were extremely corroded I wire brushed absolutely everything, started it cold and it was good, drove for a few miles came back and shut it off to start it again to see how long glow plugs would run and the light came on for a about 2 seconds went out and relay started clicking ALOT turned the key off cause I got scared, turned it back to on and the wait to start light came on but was flashing and the relay didnt click, I kept turning it to on and it was doing these things is my relay/controller broken? I looked at the battery cables and they seem to be fine, I am going to order new ones though because they could easily be corroded where I cannot see it

If your battery cables were bad enough, they would likely affect the starter performance long before they started to affect the glow plug controller.

Did you also trace the black ground wire to the back of the engine and clean that too?

Sounds like you did everything you can. Might be time to look for a new glow plug controller.

Wait a minute here ... The truck in your sig is a '93, New style controller, it may very well only come on for 2 seconds, it only comes on for whats needed, not a full 10 to 12 seconds like the pre 87.

From what I read of you post, you said it starts in 2 seconds on a cold morning ... If it's truly a failed controller it will not start that easy.

Observe it's starting behavior on a cold morning, before replacing the controller.

-Enjoy

Feston is dead on it is not supposed to keep the plugs on full term when the motor is warm. If she is starting good when cold don't worry about it, it doesn't even need the glowplugs when the block is warm.

okay started her first time today cold, 75 degrees out, light on for 12 seconds started right up, went for a drive to get to operating temp, shut her down and turned it back on light comes on for about 4 seconds but when it goes out the relay starts clicking and my battery gauge starts hopping around, but the strange thing is that my tach needle also dances with the battery gauge, when the relay quits clicking the gauges stop moving, I've done a search for this but cannot find anything similar, ALL connections were wirebrushed last night and this started clicking after cleaning, I am positive I put everything back correctly on its post

That sounds like normal operation for the controller and light when it is warm. Mine operates the same way.

As for the gauge movement, the voltage spike is normal because of the high amps used by the glow plugs.
The tachometer movement may point to a poor ground in that system. But if it is accurate, I wouldn't worry about it myself.

I just got back from my little trip drove about 45 miles went to home depot to look for a hammer drill and did some other things, let the truck sit for ten minutes went out to start it and now the relay does not click at all and WTS light does not come on, this was happening before I cleaned all connections aswell, No flashing WTS or fast clicking from the relay today though, this is really starting to irritate me maybe its normal? who knows? In my 6.0 after driving few hundred miles the light would come on for two seconds

After only ten minutes why would the GP or light come on? The engine is likely still pretty much at operating temp, and should fire right up anyway.

One can't compare a 6.0PS to a 7.3 IDI in anyway, except they both run on diesel fuel.....

my uncle had a 6.9 and regardless the light always came on and I compare to the complicated 6.0 diesel only because it is the only thing I have to compare too
