Don, you might want to post up the location of that smog sniffer center. There's a couple of members in the Inland Empire area that will thank you later!

I got my renewal notice Friday, with the dreaded "Smog certification" note. I've been taking all my vehicles to a "Test-Only" station for years now, so that's where I went yesterday. He hooked the OBD scanner to my Ex, and it died. Started back up, checked all applicable parameters, and the Ex passed!! The tech knew about the exemption for air and exhaust, and double checked the manual for my EX; CCV only, no CAT!!! I even left my F5 on, set to stock. No problems at all (Thanks Jody & Diane!!). $51.20 for test, certificate, and electronic transmittal. Now to spend the $200.00 for renewal.....
Don: Ditto with my 2001 F250 only charged $48.00. I guess lower rent in the Central Valley. BTW I see you are in Ontario. I was raised there, left when I joined the Navy and never been back.

Do you know if the obd test is not required for f250 superduty in California, couldn't pass smog test, no data from obd test for oxygen sensors.
I believe the OBD test is required for Superdutys. Do any PSD Superduty's have oxygen sensors? Mine didn't come with a catalytic converter so I have no oxygen sensor.
Yeah, I might take the trip from the OC to a diesel friendly shop! I do have the smog tune from Jody though, but if I drop in a set of Stage II's I don't know if it'll be clear enough....
Just took mine in yesterday9-18. I was not looking forward to this. Took the wifes car first. Asked the tech about my psd cc and told him it was stock with new trans and a tuner. I have a DP tune on the pod. I left it in stock he did his thing as I watched and read the paper, it passed in flying colors. This was a state smog only station here in Norco. After reading everybody's night mares I have been puting this off and it was due by end of the month. It just depends on the shop I guess and if you have a cat or not.
On the same decal on the valve cover which tells the tech what emissions equipment must be present and operational, it says "This engine is OBD-II Exempt".
This means that they may not be able to read any or all of the OBD-II information.
Ask the tech what HE thinks "Exempt" means.
This is sure turning into a fiasco for some of you, and it usually happens at a smog station that has less-than-competent technicians. If they are really sharp, they'll catch you if you're cheating (which they should), but they also KNOW the rules, and if you pass, you pass.

Fiasco yes, OBD-II exempt no. My 2002 California, automatic trans is clearly labeled "California and Federal EPA compliant. OBD-II certified. NON- CATALYST"
took my wife's 250 in last week to get smog tested. mechanic first said he needed to verify that everything was stock because the test won't pass if there is an aftermarket air filter or exhaust. thought it was the stupidest thing i have heard.
Luckily, my 350 dually is registered in Texas and doesn't require a smog test dince i have the 6637 filter and running 5" stacks.

You should be ok Danny I have to smog check here in MA and my singles in Jodys stock tune I passed with flying colors.
Temecula Smog (test only) for me...Winchester/Ynez streets. Purchased truck, a month ago, had to get ur smogged, but fortuntly, the seller, previously owned Temecula Smog, so the truck wasnt new to them. The tech had issue with scanner, killing the motor when testing, but figured it out. Completely stock, at the time......just throw'n it out there.
