Took my truck to get a smog test today and when they hooked up the OBDII port connection it would kill the engine. They can't get into the computer to read the codes. So now I can't get it smogged until they figure it out. They said that they had another one do it but it was modified. Mine I put back to stock. My truck is a 2000 F250 SuperDuty. Any ideas?
I agree.. but my #3 is 20 amp ( according to my 99 manual) for the OBDII AND lighter...
mine is the same..you plug into the PCM though the OBDII..if the OBDII has a bad fuse you wont be able to read the PCM..as said the OBDII and cig lighter work off the same fuse..
where does the Edge Evolution read from ??
Just went out to my truck and plugged in the Edge. Everything is working. I also checked the fuse and it's good too. I might try taking it to a different smog station and seeing if it also has the same problem.

I found these posts over at SoCaps:

My truck was idling an as soon as they did it died. So only visual for me.

I got my renewal notice Friday, with the dreaded "Smog certification" note. I've been taking all my vehicles to a "Test-Only" station for years now, so that's where I went yesterday. He hooked the OBD scanner to my Ex, and it died. Started back up, checked all applicable parameters, and the Ex passed!! The tech knew about the exemption for air and exhaust, and double checked the manual for my EX; CCV only, no CAT!!! I even left my F5 on, set to stock. No problems at all (Thanks Jody & Diane!!). $51.20 for test, certificate, and electronic transmittal. Now to spend the $200.00 for renewal.....
Don, you might want to post up the location of that smog sniffer center. There's a couple of members in the Inland Empire area that will thank you later!
