She fires right up in the winter. But now that its hot out, if I take a 20 minute ride it seems like a dead battery. With a jump start, she'll kick right over. she almost always makes 13v unless I'm using some elec. heater fan will cause volts to dip to 10 or 11, same for windows.
If the engine is cold she cranks fine, even on the hottest of days in the South. I hadn't used it in 3 or 4 days, and today it fired up before the engine made a full revolution. (much like it always does)
I want to think it's the battery, but don't battery troubles show up when it's like 15* outside? (like that night in Feb. '08. when the starter died)
Starter & timing make more sense. Its a reasonably new starter (2 years) but the one before that only lasted a year. In about 1 in 50 starts, the relay doesnt close, and the starter and engine both run untill I can get under the hood and hit the relay with a stick I have for just that purpose. (oh, and it's my 2nd relay as well) I don't know how old the battery is, but its 5 years minimum.
I advanced the timing for winter. It would start fine, but would stall under load. Bumping up the timing did help with that. Thanks guys, for some REAL answers. ... The choke, really?
