my pass. window is stuck in the down position. (not good!!). before this it would act up a bit meaning that when you were putting it up it would just stop, wait a minute and it would work again. sometimes it wouldnt work at all. when it wont work it makes no noises at all. when it does work the motor is quiet. does this sound like a motor problem? i thought maybe the motor was getting hot and stopping.do they have an overheat protection in the motor? thanks
I believe there's a circuit breaker in the fuse box for power windows & mirrors, look in an
owner's manual or repair manual or the archives here for a fuse block diagram if your
cover is missing (cover tells what fuses are for what). I'd remove the switch and jump some
wires to see if it is the issue.
Just replaced a window motor in my daughter's Blazer (I know, I know, can't believe she's mine). It would do the same thing. When I pulled the motor, leaving the electrical hooked up, it would do the same thing, run and stop, wait a couple minutes and then it would run and stop. New pic-a-part motor and she's good to go.
checked it out and it is the motor. on the motor there is what looks like an adjuster screw on the bottom. would that be right? also, are these motors repairable? i just tapped on the motor and it worked so that sounds like brushes sticking to me.
Now that the motor is running, it may work for a year or it might work once. What I have found over the years is that the armature will develope a bad spot and when things land on this spot, the motor will not work unless it is jolted past the bad area. The best move would be to replace the motor, they are not crazy expensive.
