Power window problems

Suddenly out of nowhere my driver side window has stopped going down. It seems as if the window would go up as the interior lights dim when I hit the switch.
I took the door apart and jumped the window motor and it worked in both directions so I thought I just needed a new switch. After replacing the switch the window still wont go down (all other windows are fine). Could it be the GEM doing this? Anyone else had a problem like this? Any advice here would be great. Thanks

Back when I had my 97 Expedition and before I had the windshield resealed, after a heavy rain or a car wash I would have issues with the window not going down. A couple of warm days later it was all dried out and the window worked perfect again.

Which points to the GEM or fusepanel as the problem

No, it points to a bad windshield seal, which is allowing water to drip into the GEM or fuses.

Unfortunately it had not rained for a while here when the window stopped working. Its been over two weeks already and there is no change.Where does the windshield leak? I want to fix this permanently.

There are many posts and threads regarding the leaking windshield. You should have no trouble finding them when using the search feature.

The whole windshield has to come out, the surfaces cleaned, then it get's reinstalled correctly. I suggest going into an auto glass shop and having them do it so that it comes out right. It doesn't take much to damage a windshield if the installation is off just a hair.

Yes. After removing the kick panel I found the door harness plug had gotten wet and rotted. I replaced the plug with one from the junkyard and the window works again
