Well, I'd like to say I had it done, but that's not the case. I saw one done like this a few years ago and loved it. When I started shopping for a crew cab truck last year, this one came up for sale. Pure chance, really. The original owner saw one done in Texas and got it done right after he bought the truck new. It is a full-length bed. Actually, it's 8'4", but I think that's the standard bed length for all of these trucks.

The overall length (for the other posters) is just under 24'. It will be just over 24' when I put the push bar on the front. The wheel base is 191". Taking it through downtown Philadelphia is quite a challenge, but people don't walk out in front of me, either.

I'm planning on 4" stacks sometime soon, as well as making the bed into a dump bed. Working the stacks into that will be an issue, but I have an idea to allow the stacks to come up with the bed and then seal back up when the bed is locked down. I think it'll work pretty good. It'll be a couple of years for all that, though.

The biggest advantage to its length is that it rides really nice. Even though it does, I'm planning some suspension upgrades, either longer leaf springs or air bag suspension, to make it ride even nicer. The leaf springs are a problem because the end of the frame is relatively close to the axle, so it may take some doing, or it may not be possible to install longer springs. I took it to South Carolina in June and it was a great ride.

I have other plans, certain lighting and other nice upgrades, but they have to wait for a while. I have other urgencies that need to be addressed first.

Well thats a heck of a chance and find to say the least! It really caught my attention and made me wonder if my vision was blurry and I was seeing things right at first! LOL! I am sure its a bit of a PIA to get through down town traffic, but one I sure would live with (smiling the whole time too)! I didnt know there were multiple concepts like this around! I have seen some things, but this actually look functional!

I had thought about something like this with adding a little more to the cab on the back end to not only give a little more indoor storage, but to allow the back seats to slide back a little more or even tilt back. I can spend a lot of time in mine, and with tack and gear riding around an Ext. Cab add-on would just make things sooo much easier!

Better ride huh? Hmm! LOL! I am with ya on the stacks, and looking forward to seeing what you put together for the dump bed add-on with stacks.. I could take a guess, and think its very possible too!

Matt, I love your truck! I would have loved the extra space on the last couple road trips I've taken that family on.

Matts156,
That's a neat dually you have there. I have seen them extended to add another set of doors, resulting in a six door cab, but I haven't seen the club cab addition before.

I would like to see a standard cab on a long wheelbase chassis with a dually bed stretched to 10' or 12', or whatever it works out to. Has anyone done that?

Gene

I've only seen flat beds that long, or the opposite, shortening the bed.

It would probably look kinda funny, but the extra bed space would be nice.

Matt, First off where are you in nj? You have a very nice looking rig there! For the dump bed that would be cool. On the stacks closing together you could pick up something off a dump truck bed. Some trucks have the exhaust ran through the bed to heat them up to keep dirt freezing in them. I'll see if we have one in work I can get a picture of.

He could probably mount the actual stacks to the bed and have a slightly smaller pipe feeding into it from down below, kinda like a cab stack. That way the stacks go up with the bed, but the pipe connected to the engine stays in place.
