I have a 1993 Bronco. My tailgate is COMPLETLY rusted close, will not open no matter what i try. Any way i can open it without cutting it in half?
i did get a replacment tailgate but does NOT come with all the interior guts, where can i find a kit for it? or will a F 150 around the same year guts from there tailgate fit? any help would be grateful Thanks.
lmc truck is the place to get the tailgate parts...if you really wanted to spend the money they have new guts. mine got rearended and it wouldnt open, got a die grinder and cut the the top quarter of the skin off and i could reach all the stuff inside. it was a all day project cutting the old one and getting all the stuff out and putting the new one in. but you will have to work both inside and out getting the guts out...its a pita. also that little mechanism on the latch and be bent or the rod could be out of the hole, this happend to me on my f250.
Can you get the window down? If you can, then probably one of the rods that connect the latch to the locks broke, you will need to find someone that can weld it together (or you can replace it, most probably with a junkyard part).
To open the door take out the mat covering the interior of the tailgate, then remove the interior panel to access the internals, then you could try grabbing and pulling the rod (or broken pieces) with some locking pliers.
Yea the window goes up and down.. little slow, but works. I know i have some kind of rod in the back (i already took panel off) that it stickign out from the tailgate.. i figured its better to get a differant set of guts than try using my old ones. Wondering how much guts cost, or can i take one from a F 150 or sumthing???
f-150 are different i believe you can go to the junk yard or here: LMC Truck Parts - Page 35. if its goin down slow one arm maybe going down a little further than the other one causeing it to go down uneven even a little bit could cause it to go slowly.
Anyone know a CHEAP place to get tailgate guts?? I live in MI, and its hard to find Bronco's let alone one's that are being part'd out.. So what i can gather F 150 guts wont work then correct?

Its not thick enough to house the guts (which includes a rather sizable piece of window glass if you recall) even if you could get them and the latch locations are different as well.
