If you don't use it and it's leaky or you're worried about someone breaking into it via the back glass, go ahead and put in a solid one. Easiest way to get into a truck is through the slider. It'll pop right open with a little pressure.
mine doesnt leak but i dont use it and well... i start college in the fall... there are a few outstanding citizens around there... i replaced the lock on it but that doesnt mean anything because the glass will slip out of that part where the glass goes into the metal things where the latch is screwed lol
Yep. All you have to do is slip a flathead in it and give it a quick snap and it'll pop right open. It's a decent amount of money to have the rear window replaced, do you have enough in the truck to justify replacing it? If so, and you're truly worried about it, I'd replace it but that's just me. It might hurt resale a bit but nothing to really worry about.
That's not a real big increase in security. If there's really something in your truck they want, they're just gonna smash a window anyway. Not to mention breaking/forcing a wing window.
I just leave nothing valuable in my truck and leave the doors unlocked.

This is a common misconception. If someone is coming to steal stuff out of your vehicle or steak the vehicle itself, anything that makes it harder for them to do is is a plus. If two vehicles are side by side, they're going to take the one easier to get into.
Breaking windows is very noisy. Most smart crooks wouldn't go that route.
lol i dont haul a cooler around.... i use to last year but i was in a quad cab so reaching threw the back glass really wasnt an option from the drivers seat lol
idk if my a/c works or not... i havent tried it... i rarely turn it on
I'd keep the sliding window. I think that it adds to our trucks and they should all have come that way. In my opinion solid rear windows look cheap.
If someone wants inside your truck there isn't much you can do about it. Mine has been broken into twice in the Austin area and both times they broke side windows. They broke the door window and the vent. I don't think they even care about the sliding rear windows.
