Joe, this is actually not the first time I've heard of that retarded stuff, only the person I know was a Navy SEAL - same difference tho, cop didn't like his attitude and thought just cause he wore a badge he also had smarts, well apparently not according to the judge who reviewed the case - seal and cop and judge have now actually been buddies for god knows how many years, yet that story gets brought up every single time we have a "family" reunion and they get a few beers in them, lol

You should come meet some cops in Texas ,they are full of bull crap.
All they have to do is claim you were in the road, not a parking lot.

If its an empty parking lot and you are not invited then I can see a problem with that. I nearly got in trouble for snow drifting in an empty parking lot but if they are still on a power trip even after finding out that they were guests on private property, then there is no excuse for that.

where I grew up the cops encuaged you to proctice skid controll in the big parking lots as soon as the first snow started hitting in fall, out on either coast though it seems to be illegal

I understand why they wouldn't want the burnouts. A few years ago, I had my '65 in the cruise here. We had pulled over to watch some of the other cars go by. A 71ish Challenger started to do a burnout, until the throttle hung wide open and they rear ended the car in front of them. It forced that car to spin sideways and it went onto the sidewalk into the crowd. Luckily, no one was hurt, but it made a mess out of both the cars.

Must have been nice to have common sense and law enforcement used in the same sentence. Unfortunately insurance liability trumps that completely these days.

That practice probably saved my bacon on more than one occasion even it it may not have been legal.

Another problem with doing burnouts on the street is stones getting thrown by the tires.

Jason, I understand that reasoning, however if it's done responsibly and there are no accidents might as well leave things alone - and by responsibly I mean leaving a block free for that in case the car gets loose - we actually had that happen with a Studebaker, no damage was done cause there was no one before him to run into...

Don't know about where you are, here if I have No Tresspassing signs on my property and you come on it anyway and get hurt, I am still liable.

As for the snow drifting in the parking lot, great practice, but again a liability for the property owner, either with or without his permission.

Once again the actions of a few who pushed it to far and hurt someone has cost us all.

I'd say its the fault of the dammed lawyers who make it my fault if someone cuts himself on teh razor wire breaking into my garage, just saying

I should not be held responsible if he has an accident involving a couple shotgun shells and a trip wire while on my property right?
