Packed up and moved

Well its been a while since is been online or even posted but I just drove 1200 plus miles with my 96 and averaged 22 miles to the gallon. I broke down outside of Iowa City Iowa and I gotta to give a shout out to the parts guys at Carousel Ford. They couldn't get parts till the next week but they called around until they found me the parts I needed from another source. So now I'm home based in the midwest. The mountains are calling

How the hell did you average that? I averaged about 15 mpg on my road trip from KS to MA without using the A/C most of the way.

I think the only way I could get that kind of mileage is if I were being towed.

I kept it in over drive for 250 miles at a time. Stayed in the draft of semis and luckly it rained half way thru Nebraska to keep things cooled off. Of course not trying to sound like the motorcraft reminder but I had new tires with proper pressure,an oil change and a tune up with new wires before I started out. Having both the tension pulley and the idler pulley melting in Iowa should tell ya that we didn't stop for much.

That was my question. I was getting almost 17 with my 91 5.0 5 spd keeping it under 2500 rpm. This was with 31 10.50s . I went to 32x 11.50 and it went way out of sight. Sounds like he may be running 4 of those space saving spares, or he has an exception to the rule in Bronco's

or his tires are big so his Odometer would be off, so what seems like 22 actually is 17
