I changed the spark plugs in my 01 250 with a 5.4 gaped them to .055 and the truck misses now. a random pop at idle and it will stutter when driving if you get into it hard it will slowly pick it's power back up like little pulses till it runs perfect. I unplugged the coil plugs one at a time and each one made the truck run worse so I don't think it is the coils I just changed the fuel filter to see if it ran better and not much of a change. This issue started right after I changed the plugs tho.
Check the plugs on top of the fuel injectors, we knocked one loose, actualy broke the little retaining clip off of one doing a plug change on a V10. Went for a test drive after the change and had a miss, and found the plug was loose on one injector, zip tied it back down, no more miss. A cracked insulatetor on a spark plug can also cause this to happen.
It won't crank at all. Does it make any kind of noise at all. A clicking sound or anything. Seems like it might not be related at all. Hard to say without hearing it. Try to give more info I'm sure someone will know what direction to goto with the problem
there is an aftermarket alarm system on the truck that the previous owner installed. he said it was disconnected but its not. so we get to figure out how to do it.
Sounds like the starter kill switch on the alarm. Your gona have to get a wire diagram of the truck and get up under the dash and disconnect the alarm wire going to the ignition. Unless there is a over ride switch around the steering coloum u can deactivate it that way
The plugs were good I made sure to check them before I put them in. But the #1 plug on the drives side had that head issue I pulled it out barely and put a new one in the new one went in easy the old one looked like it had gotten welded or something along those lines.
THe number one plug had a blow out at one time? Is there a thread insert in there if so maybe it's not in all the way and the new plug you are putting in is not going in deep enough
Well it made the truck run worse when I pulled the wiring for that coil because the cyl stopped firing so this lead me to believe it wasn't the problem. My question is why isn't the CEL on? if it has a misfire shouldn't it come on?

I read somewhere that to trigger a misfire CEL there needs to be several misfires over several trips... maybe you just haven't reached the threshold yet. Especially if you have been dis-connecting the battery, it might be resetting the counter.
Let us know what you find. Im getting ready to change plugs too...
