Tow Vehicle Wiring Problem
There is a sealed plastic junction box installed on the rear chassis that, when tapped or beat on, causes the lights to come on or go off whichever is the case.
The junction box is labelled (truck) with four wires coming in and (trailer) with two wires coming out that feed the left and right turn signals and brake lights for the trailer.
The RV dealer assured me that this was a factory installed part and I highly doubt that since I haven't been able to find a similar substitute.
I've been toying with the idea of splicing the two wires together (from the vehicle to the trailer) but I'm not sure if there's a diode within the box that's needed for proper operation.
I'd be perfectly happy to replace the entire 6-pin connector and the junction box if I could find one.
Hope this post isn't too vague but...with Memorial Day weekend coming up I'd certainly hate to have to leave the trailer at home!
Does this sound familiar to any of you?
If the box was spliced in to the factory wiring and corrosion occurred, unfortunately you'll likely need to replace a foot or so of each of the spliced wires to get clean enough wire to solder to. Be sure to protect the splices with adhesive-lined shrink sleeving.
