strange brake wires

I was crawling under my truck the other day and found some wires that were disconnected. there were two wires that came out of a junction in the front that the brake lines screw into. I found a connector in the engine compartement that fit into the connector frome the junction box. Does anyone have any idea what these wires might do? I dont have any problems with my brakes or with my brake lights. I am wondering if it might have something to do with trailer brakes?

I have a 76 f-250 4x4

Sounds to me like the wiring for the brake failure switch?

Instead of fixing them and recvonnecting the plug they just disconnected it so the light wouldn't show on the dash
