Fuel Pump failure due to dirty filter 2002 6.8L F250

02 crewcab superduty v10 6.8L. Quit running while on freeway going about 70mph. Got it towed, check presure at manifold, zero. Check red wire at connector under drivers side just rearward of fuel filter. Voltage good toward pump, power on for about 1-1.5 seconds when key first turned to on.. I then removed filter, pressurized fuel line towards engine before all gas drained with compressed air, truck fired right up. Dropped gas tank, removed pump by squeezing the two plastic tabs after removing giant threaded nut that holds everything in the tank. Bench testing revealed pump was bad (seized). The filter had never been changed after 62k miles, shame on me. Tank had 1/4 tank when it quit. I read on a few different threads that heat is you enemy. I pulled the pump apart to see the brushes melted to the rotor. I would speculate that the dirty filter created higher than normal pressures which in turn over heated the pump. I'll change the two pickup strainer screens as well as the filter.
