How did you paint the carpet? Did you wash it? How well did it turn out? Getting ready to do the same for mine, tan carpet to a black carpet and was thinkin of trying SEM paint to do it all as i do my interior.
Sem says you can use their paint on carpets also. It's also not a dye.
Well that sounds like a sticky situation!
I would never paint a carpet, dying is always the best way to go even if a product says that it can be used on carpet. Just sounds like a hassle to me.
A way to change the colour of your carpet would be to dye it (unless you use SEM I have no idea because I've never even heard of SEM) to dye it I would imagine it would be the same as dying a T-shirt warm water and dye solution, let the carpet sit for a day or how ever long it takes, take it out, wash it down, let it dry, put it back in the cab.
It would just be easier to pull a carpet out of another truck.
What would you direct me to use to change the color of the carpet?
I have never done it so I can't recommend a specific product, but if you google
"carpet dye" there are lots of results.
A company I would trust (and is also a sponsor of this site) is Eastwood
(Automotive Repair Tools, Automotive Accessories, Auto Body Tools - Eastwood Company).
I looked up carpet dye on their site but they don't seem to offer anything that
specifically says it's for that purpose (though you might give them a call).
Paint is not gonna work real well... carpet is flexible, paint isn't and it's
gonna be stiff & rough at first but will then deteriorate and crack into pieces
as it gets walked/stepped on.
