Generally insurance companies think you'll just be towing and making dump runs with a full size truck. Usually trucks aren't street racing or reckless driving. You're not a target for cops either. They don't need to know that our diesels can be pretty quick when we want them to be.

I just got my insurance bill today... (12 month policy)
$270 for the truck (no comp & collision)
$776 for the car (with comp & collision $1K deductable)
-$73 discount - (12 year customer dividend) - AAA insurance
$973 for next year. I have a separate policy for the motorcycles.
Granted - I get a mutli-car, low annual mileage rate >7,500 miles per vehicle (I mostly ride the motorcycles and my work is only 2.5 miles away) - yes - I should bicycle...and I carry the minimum bodily & property limits allowed in CA..... and I pay the premium in full
i think mine is 75 a month for just liability... and the 06 caravan is 65 for full coverage... they stuck my daughter on the truck for it being the oldest one... but then again her 99 jeep is 105 for liability... sadly noone has come close to givin us a better rate
im 43.83 a month plpd. i tired to get insurance though gieco but they wouldnt insure a f350. only f150 and 250's. i think they are jealous that i can haul more then them haha.... i went with allstate.
I'm up to a bit under $400 for 6 months now for PLPD, but I did get two speeding tickets in a row within two months last fall (darn little BFE towns and bored cops) and my truck wasn't insured for over half a year cause I didn't drive it (three other cars/trucks available at the time, plus being unemployed meant not much anywhere to go to begin with). I do get a pretty nice medical coverage out of it tho, cause the truck I can fix cheap but myself or a passenger I cannot. Calculator says this is like $65 a month, I can definitely live with that.
