1.7 rockers

I was told on here that a set of 1.7 rockers would make more sense than a cam right now for my sd computer. So right now I'm trying to figure out what set of rockers to buy. What specs should I be looking for concerning self aligning or non self aligning. Summit lists stud, shaft, and pedestal mounted rockers. Which ones do I need? I'm guessing stud, beings thats what Summit lists the most of. What size stud? Am I going to need new push rods?

Any suggestions would be great. $200-300 is my budget for the rockers and of course staying closer to the $200 mark would be great. Sorry for all the questions, but I'm a motor newb.

I suppose I should add that they will be going into a 91 302 motor and I will be swapping all the roller components out of my 94 motor into it.

Thanks. Going through summit I have a few options.

Scorpion 1.72 $237.95-274.95 race series-endurance series
Airflow Research 1.72 $269.95
Proform 1.7 $175.95
Crane 1.7 $209.95

Will I need shims? Also, will there be any valve cover clearance issues?

Thanks

I run the scorpion 1.72 , there nice , usally no shims are needed , with the stock cam the covers should be ok , i use taller valve covers so im not 100% on that...but if you take the baffels out of the covers they will work....Lew

Like Lew said you might have to take the baffles out of the stock VCs to get the 1.7s to fit.

you might look on ebay if you have time. I got a brand new set of crane's for less than half price of anywhere else I could find them new.

Well summit lists two different part numbers, one for the racing and one for the endurance. Scorpion lists two numbers too, one for the racing and one for platinum series. The numbers listed for the racing series match, but the platinum and endurance numbers don't match. The number that Summit lists for the Endurance series doesn't even show up on the Scorpion website. Kinda an odd thing. Reading through Summits description for the Endurance series, they are made to fit under factory valve covers.
