My AC does not blow out cold air when I turn it on AC and Max AC. Its a 2001 5.4 4x4 with 13K miles. I tried adding freon with some stuff I bought at Pep Boys but no luck. I also checked the fuses under the dash and in the distribution box. It doesnt blow out warm air but its definately not cold. Any help? Thanks. And I have never replaced an AC before so any steps for taking stuff apart will help.
Also when the AC is on the clutch stops spinning and makes a click sound and then will turn on again but repeats every couple of seconds. Didnt know if thats normal?
the compressor has a low pressure switch that cuts out about 20 psi. when the pump starts to pump, it sucks the suction side down and if it falls below the low pressure switch setting ,it kicks out. That is what is happening. Yoour pump should run almost constantly. Your low on R134. It would be best to have a pressure gauge so you know what your doing. Just adding another can might work, but thats not the right way to do it.
im no AC expert, but my mechanic said theres a switch on the passenger side of the truck that tends to go bad. he'll be fixing it tomorrow so ill let you know.
When I purchased the can it came with a gauge and everything seemed to check out normal and when i tried adding some the gauge did not move. My Uncle and I just figured it is full because it was in the blue I believe, the normal amount that is suppose to be in the line.
And thanks! If it is a switch I would love to know where its at so I can get it fixed. What year is your truck?
