actually my tow dolly is there with the truck, and while it would be overloaded I know the dolly will handle the load. the downhills are my big concern cause if I were to wipe the brakes and run over a minivan with that rig sittin on a tow dolly I'll be goin to jail.
You have to keep in mind that the towing vehicle has to weigh more than the towed vehicle.
I would not put it on a dolly that is not rated for it ... You get pulled over and you'll be in big trouble even without running a MV over.
Like I said ... Drive it home, I would, If she blows, she blows, it's closer to home!

true that and she still shows some oil pressure at running speeds though it shows nothing at idle,
right now I may not have to turn the crank though, and by time I drive her home I know damm well I will have to, then again chances are good that another motor will be less time+money than rebuilding the bottom of that one anyway
If it's knocking, chances are the crank will need turning anyways.
If you want to rebuild that motor, don't run it, the more you run it the more it'll cost to rebuild.
Maybe some where along the way is a motor you can pick up.
Personally I'd 50w it, drive it home gently and find another motor, I don't know how hard a find motors are in your area, they are hard finds here with long travels.
motors ain't too hard to find here though the good deals are always 3-5 hours away
I've got it settled, budget truck with a car hauler and gas will come in at about the same as the cheapest shippping deal I've found, and I won't have to worry about a couple dozen issues that I might have if I ain't right there with the truck.
Will it fit on a car hauler, my standard cab did on a U-Haul but I wouldn't go far with it, it was precariously hanging off the back and was not rated for it.
If you've found rental ones that will haul full size pickups I'd be interested in knowing more.
