I started to add a log of the odo and the engine hour meter when regens happen when I notice -- since the display doesn't leave any regen message on for more than a couple seconds. I take notes when the engine starts sounding real raspy until regen stops. Unfortunately, it didn't dawn on me to do this until about I had 4K miles on the odo.
If I'm driving around town stop-and-go empty, it'll regen between every 200~300 miles..
If I'm driving straight flat freeway loaded, it'll regen about every 400~600miles
If I eyeball it, it seems like it'll start a regen fairly consistently after every 12-15hrs of engine time from the last regen that finished completely while I was still driving in both cases.
Pipes are still clean as a whistle, and I avoid driving with a lead foot if that's a variable in the algorithm...but I don't tow anything (yet) and I probably don't drive nearly as heavily loaded as you guys are.
I think I'm over-analyzing this... maybe because it's such a nuisance :-(
