Rain Sensing Wipers

Can anyone explain to me how these work? Where's the sensor?

If it is anything like on my Lexus, the sensor is in the windshield, work great. only thing be sure to shut off when going into carwash or you could tear wipers off.

It should be on your window sticker and IIRC it's only available on the Platinum.

When I see wet spots on the windscreen, I sense that it is raining. Therefore, I switch on the wipers. Don't need no computer to tell this child that it's raining.

My wife's Tahoe has rain-sensing wipers and frankly, they freak me out whenever I am driving it in the rain. Like someone said, the drops on the windshield are what triggers my brain to send a signal to my hands to switch the wipers on... Why bother with such an efficient engine?
