Hi, Getting a CEL code P0113 indicating a IAT high reading so I thought I'd run down to the local parts store and buy a IAT sensor for my 03 5.4L F250. Well I can't find the sensor, its normally a two wire located right in the intake tube...? Looked and nothing ... Then they said its possiable it's intergrated in with my MAF and I have to replace the whole mass air flow sensor to rid of my problem. Does this sound right? It went from a 20.00 part to a 170.00 part...! I don't have my manual yet I just bought this truck 5 days ago! Thanks
Junk Yard. Or parts guy Ed. Now that we have mentioned his name he shall come and answer questions and provide you with LOW prices on Motorcraft replacements.
I have no clue but it really wouldn't surprise me any. When you look at your maf there are multiple filaments in there... so if I had to guess i'd say it was. Send parts guy Ed what ya need and he'll let ya know what you're dealing with.
Yup, mines part of the MAF. I stopped at the dealer and they said it could be a dirty Air filter causing the code? So I took that info with no hopes at all and went home. I pulled the air filter and this thing was SO DIRTY the white element was black! It has 62,000 miles I think it maybe an original filter! So, I got to thinking I just put a brand new filter in my F150 which is the same and swapped it out for the time being and started the truck up no CEL! GONE... Drove 10 miles because I thought BS! I didn't even have the codes cleared or reset.. Was Ford right?...................now I'm wondering if the MAF can be cleaned with electrical spray to rid some deposits on the sensors..Hmmmm, On the other hand it aint broke now so maybe I won't fix it!
You can buy MAF Cleaner spray, I think CRC makes it.
Yup, what ever you do dont use any cleaner other than MAF cleaner on it, some MAF's are really sensitive and it could ruin it... it could work with regular electronic cleaner, but after seeing the price of a new one do you really want to find out?
Well 25 miles later the CEL back on for the same code ! I knew I smelled BS! So I stopped at the FORD dealer and he says: when you open the air filter housing it jars the MAF and temporarily caused the light to go out possibly but it sounds like The MAF/IAT could be contaminated...I just smiled and walked out . WTF does that mean?!! Seriously! So with my smarts I put on my Radiation suit and went and bought some MAF cleaner and Blasted it! This time I reset the computer to see if the CEL comes back. I swear Dealers are just here to **** me off.
